Christiaan Huygens's Birth Chart
Sun in Aries · Moon in Capricorn
Christiaan Huygens, Lord of Zeelhem was a Dutch mathematician, physicist, engineer, astronomer, and inventor who is regarded as a key figure in the Scientific Revolution. In physics, Huygens made seminal contributions to optics and mechanics, while as an astronomer he studied the rings of Saturn and discovered its largest moon, Titan. As an engineer and inventor, he improved the design of telescopes and invented the pendulum clock, the most accurate timekeeper for almost 300 years. A talented mathematician and physicist, Huygens authored the first modern treatise where a physical problem was idealized using mathematical parameters, while his work on light contains the first mathematical and mechanistic explanation of an unobservable physical phenomenon. Sun in Aries
24°40′Your identity ignites when you begin and open the way: you need causes, challenges and the freedom to go first in order to discover who you are through action.
Moon in Capricorn
12°51′Your emotions are sober and deep: it's hard for you to ask, but you hold like a mountain. Your emotional world seeks refuge in restraint, work, pragmatism and self-control. You show affection by supporting and protecting your own, and you find peace when you feel you hold the reins of your life.
Birth time not documented
The Ascendant changes sign every two hours, and no verified birth time is recorded for Christiaan Huygens, so this chart doesn't set it. Their planets by sign, however, remain reliable.
Section II · The map
Their natal wheel
The sky on the day they were born. The outer ring is the twelve signs; the lines across the centre, the aspects between planets. Without a birth time, houses and the Ascendant aren't drawn.
Section III · The detail
Planets and aspects
The exact numbers behind the drawing. Each table expands one layer of the wheel.
Christiaan Huygens's placements
We compute the placements for the day of birth. Without the exact time the Ascendant and houses can't be fixed, but each planet's sign is reliable.

Beyond the planets
Three keys beyond the ten classical planets, which astrology reads as axes of the chart. All four angles need your birth time.
Not a body but a point of the Moon's orbit. It marks the direction of your growth.
The Black Moon: a mathematical point tied to the untamed and what refuses to submit.
Christiaan Huygens's aspects
Each aspect is an angle between two planets; it defines how they speak to each other. Aspects to the Moon are approximate: they depend on the exact birth time.
Elements and modalities
How their energy is split across the four elements and the three modalities.
Section IV · The signature
The signature of their sky
The whole at a glance: how the planets are spread, and the accents that set the overall tone of the chart.
Seesaw
Your planets gather in two opposite groups: you live in the push and pull between them.
Their energy concentrates in the element of Fire and the Cardinal modality.
Jupiter is the most connected planet in their chart: 6 aspects tie it to the rest.
Three or more planets together in Aries: a strongly marked focus of energy in that area.
An opposition with a third planet square to both: the chart's engine of tension and achievement.
